The cast list Grandpa copied onto the box matches the film's documented cast almost name for name — this tape preserves the soundtrack of the genre's founding film, with a passage of xianshi string music at its head. The film premiered in Singapore on 19 September 1959 — ahead of Hong Kong itself — and caused a sensation. No print of it is known to survive; only the sound still circulates, and a tape like this is the form in which the work now lives.
