這盤雜錦帶最見外公聽戲之廣：《蘆林會》（《躍鯉記》中姜詩與龐三娘蘆林相會一折）由少年潮劇院演唱；《桃花江》是一九五六年新華影業的華語歌唱片；《碧玉簪》為一九六二年大鵬出品的越劇電影。卡上所記的「外江」是劇種而非戲名 — 外江戲即廣東漢劇的前身，存世錄音稀少，這一段或是全套帶中最珍貴的聲音。盒面貼著的《乳燕迎春》，是一九六二年鴻圖出品的電影，片中正嵌有《蘆林會》與《刺梁驥》選段。至於這盤由少年潮劇院演唱的《蘆林會》與那部電影有何干係，未有定論 — 盒與聲未必相符，本就是這批帶子成形的方式。这盘杂锦带最见外公听戏之广：《芦林会》（《跃鲤记》中姜诗与庞三娘芦林相会一折）由少年潮剧院演唱；《桃花江》是一九五六年新华影业的华语歌唱片；《碧玉簪》为一九六二年大鹏出品的越剧电影。卡上所记的「外江」是剧种而非戏名 — 外江戏即广东汉剧的前身，存世录音稀少，这一段或是全套带中最珍贵的声音。盒面贴著的《乳燕迎春》，是一九六二年鸿图出品的电影，片中正嵌有《芦林会》与《刺梁骥》选段。至于这盘由少年潮剧院演唱的《芦林会》与那部电影有何干系，未有定论 — 盒与声未必相符，本就是这批带子成形的方式。This mixed reel shows the breadth of Grandpa's listening: Meeting at Lulin (the reed-grove reunion scene from The Leaping Carp) sung by the Youth Teochew Opera Theatre; Peach Blossom River, the 1956 Mandarin musical from Xinhua Studios; and The Jade Hairpin, the 1962 Yue opera film from Dapeng. The 'Wai Jiang' on his card is a genre, not a title — waijiang opera, ancestor of Guangdong Han opera, of which surviving recordings are scarce. That segment may be the rarest sound in the whole collection. The Young Swallows Greet the Spring pasted on the box is the 1962 Hongtu film, which itself incorporated excerpts of Meeting at Lulin and Stabbing Liang Ji. What relation this reel's Lulin — sung by the Youth Teochew Opera Theatre — bears to that film is unresolved: box and sound do not always match, and that is simply how this collection was made.
