Directed by Zhu Shilin for the Dapeng studio and starring Yao Xuanqiu, it is the signature work of Teochew opera's greatest star. Longjing Ferry, 'a folk story everyone knows', appears never to have been filmed — the recording here likely came from the stage or radio, possibly rarer than any film soundtrack. The 'SB' on the flyer most plausibly marks Shaw's role as circuit owner and distributor rather than producer — Shaw owned Singapore's Chinese-dialect cinemas and helped finance the Hong Kong dialect-film wave — though the reading remains an inference, held lightly. Yao Xuanqiu (1935–2022) spent her last decades teaching the next generation; she died on 2 July 2022.
