The Youth Troupe's Accusing the Husband, complete (green leader, parts 1–6); the Guangdong Teochew Opera Troupe in Meeting at Lulin (sung by Fan Zehua and Huang Qingcheng); and Parting at the Pagoda Tree (Wu Lijun and Huang Qingcheng). Down the left edge, in blue: 'sound clear, tone bright — 22 January 1997' — a verdict he added thirty-five years later.

All three pieces were recorded on 8 June 1962: Accusing the Husband complete by the Guangdong Youth Teochew Opera Troupe, then Meeting at Lulin and Parting at the Pagoda Tree sung by Fan Zehua, Huang Qingcheng and Wu Lijun of the Guangdong Teochew Opera Troupe — the finest Teochew voices of their day. Down the left edge runs a line in blue ink: 'sound clear, tone bright', dated 22 January 1997. Thirty-five years on, he listened again and gave the tape its review. Meeting at Lulin was Fan Zehua's signature piece — the writer Lao She, hearing it, wrote that every phrase of it broke his heart. Lin Shunqing (1936–2025), one of the lead voices here, died on 14 May 2025, more than six decades after this tape was made.
